Sexualized Violence Against Men * From a User-Controlled Perspective
Detlef Maag
What do biographical narratives have to do with regaining one's power of interpretation and how can it help to re-occupy the subject standpoints of survivors of sexualized violence by themselves?
As a doctoral researcher in social work and a survivor of sexualized violence, it is important to me to make the subject standpoints of survivors of sexualized violence in science and beyond visible.
The sociological power of interpretation is still primarily with the scientists. A question that I would like to discuss: Does participatory research, which has become quite popular, make it possible to shift the power of interpretation to survivors? Or is the involvement of those affected in research processes only partially helpful, or even counterproductive?
As a participatory extension in my research project, I am using the co-researcher principle and will report on my first experiences.
